I'm Gio Acosta, a digital creative in Southern California. I build things for the web and spend a lot of my time looking closely at cars.
I don't remember a time when I wasn't interested in cars. Not just driving them, but looking at them and wondering how they came to be the way they are.
What I Notice
The signs that a car has lived a life.
I'm drawn to older cars and motorsports because there is usually more to notice than the finished shape. The interesting part might be the wear, the repair or the small choice an owner made years ago and never changed.
Sometimes I photograph one of my own projects. Sometimes I meet someone with a car I've admired for years. I want to understand why people keep these machines going and what the cars have come to mean to them.
Looking closely is the point.
The photograph is a way to remember what caught my attention.

The Work
My professional background is in websites, SEO, marketing and content. I've spent years building for the internet and working out how people find and use what is put in front of them.
Photography and video became another part of that work. Cars gave all of those skills a subject I already cared about.
